Introduction

Hello Everyone,

My name is Julian A. Villalvazo and I am from San Diego, California. I am currently working as a substitute teacher for the Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD). I earned my B.A. in Sociology and minor in Education from UC Santa Barbara in 2014. Since then, I have returned to San Diego in pursuit of starting my teaching career and serving the community that I grew up in.

Throughout my childhood I knew one thing was certain; I wanted to help people when I grew up. Teaching, however, was never really a career option for me until my senior year in high school. It was then that I realized just how much love I had for my alma mater, Southwest High School (part of SUHSD). My dream then became clearer. Why not come back after I had finished college and help make a difference in the lives of the youth of the community I grew up in? That has been the goal ever since. My tentative life plan is to teach for a few years, and then work my way up to becoming a high school principal.

  1. Hi Julian,

Continue your substitute teaching as you get exposed to a variety of classrooms and student personalities. This will assist you in becoming the type of teacher you want to be!
